Jeffrey Rosenthal Joins Mandelbaum Salsburg as Co-Chair of Bankruptcy and Creditors Rights and Banking and Financial Services Practices

ROSELAND, N.J., Jan. 6, 2017 – Mandelbaum Salsburg P.C., one of New Jersey’s most renowned and respected law firms, announced today that Jeffrey M. Rosenthal has joined the Firm as Co-chair of both the Bankruptcy and Creditors Rights and the Banking and Financial Services practice groups. The addition of Rosenthal, who will Co-Chair the practices with Richard Simon and work closely with Members Edward Albowicz, Dan Barkin and Stuart Gold, enhances and broadens the Firm’s footprint in the finance industry both domestically and cross border.

“Jeffrey is one of the leading attorneys to the financial services industry in the greater New York area, and we’re excited about what he brings to these practices,” said Richard Simon. “We’ve attracted many of the best and brightest attorneys in the region over the last year and half and have expanded or enhanced a wide range of our services offered in areas such as Banking Litigation and Consumer Finance Defense, Cybersecurity, Environmental, and Special Needs,” said Bill Barrett, Co-CEO of Mandelbaum Salsburg.

Rosenthal joins from Otterbourg, P.C., where he was a member in the Banking & Finance and Restructuring & Bankruptcy practices. Rosenthal’s financial clients include money center, regional and community banks, hedge funds, private equity funds, commercial finance companies, healthcare lenders, as well as borrowers, entrepreneurs and other interested parties.

He has represented lenders in matters ranging from $200,000 to $500 million, and recently closed a $6 million loan to a dessert manufacturer. Rosenthal also represented a lender to distressed companies on a $17 million loan to fund a potential turnaround, and subsequently represented this lender as the debtor-in-possession lender in a 363 Sale that resulted in a full recovery of funds, plus interest and fees.

With a unique background that includes an MBA and a CPA license (now dormant), Rosenthal has assisted clients in the negotiation and documentation of loan transactions, workouts and bankruptcies in the U.S., as well as cross-border transactions. He has helped clients navigate closings and maximize their recoveries from stressed and distressed companies and fraud situations. Rosenthal has handled “363 Sales” for lenders, bidders and debtors, and been involved in Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors, representing parties involved in orderly liquidations and Article 9 sales, as well as purchasers in “loan to control” transactions.

“Mandelbaum Salsburg is a great firm with a proven commitment to quality and growth,” said Rosenthal. “I am extremely impressed with the firm’s ability to integrating practice groups in order to offer clients a full range of legal services in a cost-efficient manner.”

Rosenthal, a resident of Sea Bright, N.J., earned his Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers School of Law, and his B.A. and MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York and the District of Columbia. Rosenthal, who has been selected as a Super Lawyer for N.Y. and N.J. and a Best Lawyer since 2007*, is a Fellow in the American College of Commercial Finance Attorneys.
