Matrimonial and Family Law

Our prominent Family Law Practice Group provides a wide variety of services to our clients throughout New Jersey and has a well-known reputation of being zealous advocates who instill confidence in our clients and protect their interests. Our practice is devoted to negotiating favorable settlements for our clients, and when the adverse party frustrates that goal, litigating all aspects of family law matters.

We aim to restore order to the chaos that can be caused by divorce. Our attorneys continually demonstrate to the Courts and attorneys of New Jersey that we are committed to our clients’ interests. We appreciate the need for protecting our clients’ privacy in cases of notoriety. Many of our attorneys are also court qualified mediators and are available to mediate or arbitrate matrimonial disputes. The Honorable Michael K. Diamond, the former Presiding Family Part Judge of Passaic County, is a member of our team. Our attorneys also represent clients during the mediation process through the completion of the divorce. Our attorneys regularly write articles and lecture on family law.

We handle the full array of issues arising after divorce such as applications to modify alimony and child support and appeals.

Our family law attorneys have a reputation for ethical and strong advocacy and work hard to achieve the best possible result for each of our clients, and are prepared to try a case if a fair result cannot be obtained through negotiation or mediation. The Matrimonial and Family Law Practice Group prides itself on protecting our clients’ interests throughout the negotiation and drafting of often highly complex marital separation, property settlement and prenuptial agreements. In so doing, our lawyers draw upon the considerable and diverse expertise of other departments, including the Trust and Estates, Tax, Real Estate and Corporate Practice Groups.

In addition, our attorneys work closely with forensic accountants, appraisers, psychologists, mental health professionals and other experts should the need arise during any proceeding.

Our attorneys are known as very skilled negotiators. While we make every effort to work toward a swift and fair resolution for our clients, our attorneys have extensive litigation experience should a matter proceed to trial.

As advocates for our clients, we handle matters that include:

  • Divorce Actions
    • Equitable Distribution of Assets and Liabilities
    • Alimony
    • Child Support
    • Custody I Time Sharing
    • Relocation
  • Non-Marriage Actions
    • Child Support and related expenses, including college costs
    • Custody I Time-Sharing
    • Palimony
  • Representing parties alleged to have committed or who have been victims of abuse and/or injuries during the marriage (known as a Tevis action)
  • Same Sex Issues
  • Domestic Violence Matters
  • Adoptions
  • Post-Judgment Disputes
  • Enforcement and Modification of Divorce Agreements
  • Appeals
