Personal Injury + Workers’ Compensation

We’ve resolved thousands of personal injury and workers’ compensation claims, resulting in awards of millions of dollars to the injured parties.

Our battle-tested trial lawyers understand the ways insurance companies try to minimize their economic exposure, and the strategies their lawyers use to aggressively undermine each aspect of a claim. Whenever possible, we will seek the outcome you need and deserve without going to trial. But when that isn’t the best path forward, you’ll benefit from experienced trial lawyers who are not afraid to go all the way to a jury verdict – and secure the justice you deserve.

The members of our personal injury and workers’ compensation team have more than 100 years of collective experience, have consistently been recognized in New Jersey Super Lawyers, and have been designated Certified Civil Trial Attorneys by the New Jersey Supreme Court.*

We provide comprehensive legal counsel to drivers, passengers and pedestrians injured in car, truck and motorcycle accidents in New Jersey.

Whether it’s a fender-bender or a serious collision, the consequences of a crash can be significant. You may be unable to work, you may require extensive medical treatment, or you may have to give up the things you love to do because of pain. All of these can   significantly alter your life.

If you’ve been involved in any type of motor vehicle accident caused by someone else’s negligence, you want us in your corner.

Our personal injury attorneys have more than 100 years of combined experience protecting the rights of injury victims. When you work with us, you’ll always have access to experienced trial attorneys — you’ll never be handed over to an inexperienced associate. We take a highly personalized approach to every case, travelling to the scene of the crash, if necessary, and working with expert witnesses, including accident reconstruction specialists, engineers, financial planners and medical authorities to build the best case for you. Not only will we work first and foremost to get you full and fair compensation, we’ll also ensure that you get the medical treatment you need.

If possible, we’ll attempt to resolve your case through a negotiated settlement. But as experienced and respected trial lawyers, we are always ready, willing and able to take your case to court to get the outcome you want. We handle motor vehicle injury claims involving all types of circumstances, including:

  • Negligence or carelessness by another driver, including speeding, reckless driving, failure to obey traffic signs or signals, or failure to adapt to bad weather conditions
  • Negligence in maintaining or repairing a vehicle, including faulty brakes, steering or other known conditions
  • Negligence in monitoring and maintaining roads, including potholes, loose gravel, water or ice on roads, and broken or malfunctioning signs or signals
  • Dangerous or defective vehicles or parts, including poorly designed or manufactured tires, brakes or other components
  • Car-bike collisions, including cars turning into the path of a motorcycle, sideswiping a bike, rear-ending a motorcycle or other collisions with a biker
  • Single bike and car crashes, including accidents caused by defective roadway conditions, phantom drivers, or defective or dangerous cars or bikes
  • Carelessness or negligence in the operation of a truck, including speeding, failure to use due caution, and failure to adjust to weather conditions
  • Truck driver fatigue and falsification of driving logs
  • Failure to properly maintain a commercial truck
  • Truckers who were driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol

We can help you seek damages for all your losses, including lost wages and income, your medical expenses, your physical pain and suffering, and suffering due to loss of consortium (losses suffered in your marital relationship). We consider cases involving any type of injury, from soft-tissue trauma to serious and catastrophic loss, such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, broken bones, paralysis, burns, permanent scarring or disfigurement, and amputation or loss of limb. We also represent survivors in wrongful death claims arising out of the negligence of others.

Dog Bites

Each year there are over 4.7 million dog bite cases in the U.S. with 800,000 resulting in medical care.

If you have been injured by a dog bite you may be able to be compensated for your medical costs and other losses. Dog bites are considered premises liability in New Jersey and the owner of the property where the bite takes place is liable. In addition, the owner is liable for any injuries sustained no matter who was at fault.

Police Brutality + Misconduct

We will help you seek damages for all losses, such as wages and income, medical expenses, loss of companionship or consortium, and physical pain and suffering and loss of enjoyment of life. We represent clients who have suffered any type of injury, from sprains, strains and other soft-tissue injury to serious and catastrophic loss. We also represent family members for their loved one’s wrongful death claims.

Premises Liability, Slips, Trips + Falls

In New Jersey, the owner of a residential or commercial property has a duty to reasonably minimize the risk of injury to anyone who is lawfully on the property. Unfortunately, property owners often fail to identify the risks, or simply don’t get around to fixing them or warning you about the potential danger.

If you have been hurt on a slippery floor or sidewalk, or have fallen on broken steps or pavement, you want an experienced lawyer to help you pursue full and fair compensation for all your losses. We provide comprehensive counsel to anyone who has been hurt on someone else’s property. We’ll conduct a thorough investigation of the facts of your case, visiting the scene of the accident, if necessary. We’ll also work with expert witnesses, including engineers, medical professionals and financial planners, to prepare and present the most compelling arguments for your full financial recovery. We handle slip and fall claims involving any type of circumstance, including:
  • Wet or slippery floors, sidewalks or walkways, whether from water, ice, oil or other substances
  • Broken or cracked steps, stairs or pavement
  • Dangerous or defective sidewalks, parking lots, ramps, decks or driveways
  • Injuries because of poor lighting or inadequate security at a building or residence
  • Slips, trips and falls on packed snow on sidewalks, steps or other thoroughfares
  • Injuries sustained because of black ice on sidewalks, driveways, parking lots or parking ramps
  • Injuries caused by failure to make property safe after a snow or ice storm
  • Inadequate lighting or insufficient security at a building or residence

Workers Compensation

We handle all matters involving a workplace injury or illness, including trauma suffered in an accident, injuries caused by repetitive stress or motion, and occupational illnesses and diseases.

If you were hurt on the job or have been diagnosed with an occupational illness, you are entitled to worker’s compensation benefits, regardless of who was at fault.  You need not have sustained a permanent injury to receive benefits such as medical treatment; or temporary, partial or total permanent compensation.

Our attorneys are experienced in obtaining monetary compensation and ensuring that you receive medical treatment for your work-related injury. We handle cases throughout New Jersey, and boast decades of trial experience, and experience before the New Jersey Division of Workers’ Compensation. Our team can also represent you in third party lawsuits, should your injury be caused in part or in whole by the actions of someone other than your employer or a co-employee.

Professional Malpractice

Professionals that provide certain services, such as lawyers, accountants, dentists and investment managers, have a duty to provide a certain level of care. When they fail to meet that duty, you need knowledgeable, experienced and aggressive legal counsel to protect your rights.

Our attorneys have protected the rights of individuals in New Jersey for more than 90 years, including victims of professional malpractice. We know that every case is different, and every client has unique needs. That’s why we take time to learn the details of your situation, and always keep you involved and well-informed. If you have suffered physical injury because of the wrongful acts of a professional, we’ll also help make certain you get the medical care you need. We handle all matters related to professional malpractice, focusing on claims involving:

  • Legal malfeasance or malpractice, including failure to file documents in a timely manner, misappropriation of escrow funds, failure to meet professional standards, and conflicts of interest
  • Dental malpractice, including failure to follow accepted practices in dental surgery and care, bad fillings, unnecessary or incorrect dental surgery
  • Accounting malfeasance, including negligence in providing bookkeeping or tax reporting, filing or advice
  • Stockbroker malfeasance, including churning, unnecessary trades, failure to conduct due diligence, and conflicts of interest

February 11, 2019Mandelbaum Salsburg's Personal Injury Team Recently Helped an Injured Patron Hold a Careless Bar Accountable For an On-site Stabbing

Member Joe Peters and Associate Ethan Wells earned a major victory on behalf of a client who was stabbed in a New Brunswick, New Jersey bar. The client sustained multiple traumatic injuries to his leg, abdomen, pancreas, and spleen. Peters and Wells aggressively advocated for our client during the mediation and were able to prove that the bar in question had an obligation to provide security at its establishment in a reasonable manner. The bar also failed to successfully train and supervise its security personnel. Therefore, the bar was fully liable for plaintiff's injuries. The mediation ended when the defendant's agreed to compensate the plaintiff in full. This is just one of the many satisfying verdicts our personal injury attorneys have achieved for plaintiffs....
